About Sutton Solar & Electrical

At 27 years old, I bring over six years of hands-on experience in the solar and electrical industry. Born and raised in Wellington, I have a strong connection to the region and take pride in providing quality work for the local community.

I started my career in January 2020 as a labourer, never expecting to stay in the industry long-term. However, I quickly developed a genuine interest in the work and took pride in seeing the results of a job well done. Within a few short months, I decided to pursue a career in the trade and began my electrical apprenticeship in July of the same year.

Balancing early mornings, long days on the tools, and night classes taught me discipline, perseverance, and the importance of doing things properly. Over the years, I've gained experience across a wide range of residential and commercial solar installations, off-grid solutions, and general electrical work, from everyday lighting and power installations to more complex EV charging systems and switchboard upgrades.

Solar is particularly rewarding for me because you can see the results of your work almost immediately. There's something satisfying about helping clients generate their own power and seeing the benefits of a system come to life. Off-grid installations offer a different kind of satisfaction, allowing people to generate and manage their own electricity independently. Being part of that process and helping clients gain greater energy independence is one of the aspects of my work I enjoy most.

Since becoming a qualified electrician in late 2023, I've taken on a variety of responsibilities, from training and supervising apprentices to leading residential installations and large-scale commercial projects. These experiences have helped me develop not only my technical skills, but also my ability to communicate clearly, solve problems, and take responsibility for delivering quality work.

In 2026, I took the leap into business ownership, bringing together my experience in design, installation, maintenance, and system optimisation to provide reliable, practical solar and electrical services. My goal is to offer solutions tailored to each client's needs, with a focus on quality workmanship, safety, and long-term reliability.

I'm also preparing to take the next step in my professional development by training as an Electrical Inspector. This will allow me to build on my existing knowledge and experience, further develop my professional judgement and attention to detail, and contribute to maintaining high standards of electrical safety across the industry.

Outside of work, family is a big part of my life. I enjoy spending time with my partner, Courtney, and our five-year-old daughter, Ella. Whether we're heading out on an adventure, exploring somewhere new, or simply enjoying quality time together over dinner, those moments are what matter most to me.

I bring that same sense of care and commitment into my work. For me, it's about more than just completing a job; it's about being someone clients can trust, taking pride in my workmanship, and making sure every installation is completed safely and to a high standard. I believe in being approachable, honest, and taking the time to understand what each client needs so I can deliver a solution they can feel confident in.
